List of terms
During the period 1980-2006 the total consumption of flour and grain
has increased with 12 % to slightly more than 71 kg per head and year,
meat with 34 % to slightly more than 85 kg, vegetables with 84 % to slightly
more than 75 kg and fruit with 27 % to 106 kg. The total consumption of milk
during the same period has decreased from about 185 to 136 litres per head and
year, a decrease with 26 %. In addition, the consumption of edible fats has
decreased during the period from 24.5 to 16.4 kg per head and year, a decrease
with 33 %.
The total consumption of sugar and treacle has been varying between 40
and 45 kg per head and year during the period 1980-2006 and was 41.8 kg 2006.
At the same time the consumption of chocolate and confectionery has increased
strongly together with soft drinks. It seems however that the upward trend was
broken in 2003 for both chocolate and confectionery and soft drinks. For
chocolate and confectionery the consumption has decreased the last three years
while the consumption of soft drinks decreased two years and then increased
again 2006. During 2006 the consumption per head and year of chocolate and confectionery
was 15.1 kg and of soft drinks 89.7 litres which was 54 % and 203 % higher than
1980.
The National Food Administration is responsible for the calculations of
nutritive values. Since they are in the process of changing their programme for
calculations with new data, the part "Näringsinnehåll i livsmedelskonsumtionen",
tables and graphs concerning nutritive values are not shown for 2006, but only
up to 2005. This is not of great concern since the changes between two separate
years are not that substantial.
During the period 1980-2005 the total supply of energy from food
products has increased from 12 000 to about 12 500 kJ per head and day,
corresponding to slightly more than 4 %. About 30 % of the total supply of
energy comes from bread and cereals, 12 % from meat and meat products and 22 %
from milk, milk products, eggs and edible fats. Sugar, treacle, chocolate and
confectionery, ice cream, beer and soft drinks etc. together account for slightly
more than 16 % of the total supply of energy.
