Dogs and cats

The rules on importing dogs and cats are intended to prevent the spread of rabies and the fox tapeworm Echinococcus in Sweden. The rules are set by the European Union.

The rules om pet imports were changed om 14 June 2010.

From Europe

From UK, Ireland or Malta

From other EU countries or some non-EU countries

From Norway with no paperwork required

From elsewhere

From countries with rabies under control

From other countries: quarantine required
